May 10

Today the middle schoolers put on a Renaissance Fair.  Shaylin's chess class played a life-sized game of chess.  Shaylin was a rook, which bummed her out because they don't move much.  But they're sure cute.

May 9

This post is for my mom.

I promised her I'd post pictures of our basement.  We're finally decorating it and giving it some personality...

and color.  Lots and lots of color.

It's a work in progress, but it's finally starting to feel like a basement and not a cave.

 

P.S.  See that white entertainment center?  I made that!  I assembled it from two $26 Walmart bookcases and some wood shelves we had in the garage.  It cost $55!!

May 8

Sawyer is a Cub Scout!  Tonight he went to his first den meeting.  They worked on the physical fitness badge - right up his alley.  He pretty much thinks Cub Scouts is the coolest thing ever now.

May 7

Tonight we got to Skype with all of our grandparents AT THE SAME TIME!!!  
My parents traveled to Malaysia to evaluate hospitals, and the public affairs missionaries showed them the town.  The public affairs missionaries are JASON'S PARENTS!

So tonight we were able to talk to them all at once.  It was so special.  Although Mitchell was completely confused, and we were all completely jealous that they could be together without us.  

May 6

Mitchell turned 2 today!  He loved all of his presents, especially the ones sent from his grandparents.

But this one was his favorite.  He wouldn't even look up for a picture.  They're all holding him back as he tries to drive away.

He had places to go.

How I love this energetic, cheerful, patient, tender, cuddly little boy!

May 5

 

Sawyer was baptized tonight!  It was a very special evening.

 

Look who the speakers were!  Sawyer's grandparents gave the talks all the way from Malaysia and Hong Kong.  It was so neat.  It really felt like they were here with us!

 

Afterwards, we had rootbeer floats (Sawyer's choice). 

   

Sawyer was very happy about his decision to follow the example of his Savior, Jesus Christ.  And he was thrilled to have so many kind friends and relatives there to support him.

What a great day!

May 4

Today our relatives came to visit.  We spent the day playing, talking, eating and laughing.  The girls got makeovers and had fashion shows.  The boys rode 4-wheelers. They only crashed into one car and through one fence.  Not bad.

May 3

Sawyer turned 8 today!  He got a 3DS for his birthday.  He was a little excited.  

He got to choose where we ate dinner, 

and what kind of cake we ate for dessert.  It was a fun birthday and Sawyer was so grateful.  That sweet boy is still so loving, sensitive, vibrant, active and always always fun.

My friend works at Sawyer's school.  She sent me this text, "I thought you might want to see what your cute son is doing at recess.  I also thought this might explain why he comes home with grass in his hair every day."  :)

Thanks to our new magnetic job charts, chores just got a lot more fun around here.
