October 31

Happy Halloween!

Tonight we did a little trick-or-treating.  I was glad that the kid's bags were all ready full from their other parties, because it was cold and people live so far apart here.
 A little trick-or-treating goes a long way.

October 30

Macey likes to pack her own snacks for church.  You never know what she's going to pull out of her bag - ham, corn on the cob, a popsicle.  Today she brought little packs of jelly to dip her crackers in.  

I never know if I should reprimand her or ask her if she'll share with me.

October 29

Tonight was our church Trunk or Treat party.  Skyler decorated our trunk all by himself.  
Nothing cutesy this year.  The singing pumpkins are all fired.

   

Sawyer was devastated when he realized that he couldn't wear his mask in the church.  
So I painted it on him.  He looked at himself in the mirror and then looked at me in complete awe.  Yup.  I'm a cool mom today.

Skyler was a life guard for all of the inside parties and a snow boarder for all of
the outside parties.  Smart boy.

 
And little Mitchell was Elmo.  He loooooooves Elmo.  He kept hugging his own head.

October 28

Today was busy.  

First we had the middle school Halloween dance.  This is Shaylin with her best friend, Reina.

Next we had The Fall Festival hosted by the missionaries for our church.  People from the community came for dinner, entertainment and tours of the church.  Members were stationed in areas of the church to explain things like our youth program, the family history library, the baptismal font, etc.  It was exceptional.

And yet despite the lovely spirit of the evening, this is all I see when I look at this picture:

1.  Macey's head band doesn't match, and she hasn't washed her face since the carnival yesterday.  
2.  Mitchell is wearing floods, and has either chocolate or poop on his shirt.
3.  Sawyer snuck his battle axe into the church.  
4.  Skyler will not get sunburned at the Fall Festival.  
5.  Jason's mouth is full.  
6.  And I only have desserts on my plate.

Some days I do better than others. 

Then we went to the elementary school carnival.  Shay, her friend, and I ran the face painting booth.  We painted little faces for almost 3 hours.  
It was absolutely exhausting and delightful at the same time.

October 27

Today the kids had their Halloween parties at school.  

Sawyer was nice enough to let Macey tag along with him in his costume parade and carnival.  
Are you wondering what Macey is?  You're not alone.

She couldn't decide if she should be a dog or a ninja, so she's both.  And she's happy.

My kids are so sick.   This is what I'm seeing, smelling, and cleaning up today.  They're throwing up everywhere!  Disgusting.  I'm telling you, this the true test of a mother's love.

I told you you wouldn't want a real picture today.

He thinks he's way too cool to ride in the grocery cart now.

You are looking at the 2011 tournament champions!!!  
They were awesome.  And they were VERY excited to take 1st place,
especially that tall one in the middle.

Today Shaylin received her Faith in God award.  She's been working towards this goal for four years.  When this little lady sets her mind to something, watch out.  There's no stopping her.

I'm so proud of her unabridged, unreserved, unmitigated goodness.
