All four kids had their annual check ups this week. I can tell that our doctor's office isn't used to large families. They acted like I was bringing in a whole preschool. Wimps.
We did pretty well. There was a little trauma when Skyler was helping Sawyer pee in a cup, and Sawyer peed on Skyler's arm. Skyler felt it was intentional. Sawyer swore that it wasn't, but he kept giggling, and that didn't strengthen his argument.
Besides that, we did well until the very end when the doctor announced that everyone but Shaylin needed shots. Skyler was NOT expecting this. (He had already gotten his middle school shots at school). He got a panicked look on his face when the nurse asked him to go first. Sawyer and Macey were watching him closely to see if they should be scared.
I whispered in Skyler's ear, "I will give you five bucks if you pretend to be REALLY brave right now." Then he hopped up on the table and said with a huge smile, "I love shots!" I was so proud of him.
Sawyer wasn't fooled for long. He had to get SIX shots. It was horrible. I held him still while they poked him over and over again. He whimpered softly, and I sobbed.
Then Macey got her four shots. She was furious. She kept saying, "I do NOT like going to the doctor anymore. And I don't want their suckers!"
I can't wait until next year.
